RADICAL ISLAM & COMMUNISM:  A COMPARISON
By Chuck Morse

The two radical faiths, Radical Islam and Marxist-Leninist Communism, have a lot in common. Actually, the difference between the two, when carefully examined, seems a lot more cosmetic than substantive. While the headgear may be different, the philosophies undergirding the two systems appear to be similar. Both, for example, are consumed with an unbending hatred for the American way of life. Both have considered America to be the main stumbling block in their respective roads toward utopia. To the Islamic terrorist, America is the "great Satan" standing in the way of "Dar el-Islam," or a world conquered by Islam. To the Communist, America is Bourgeois Capitalism, which stands in the way of "progressive" Socialism as they march toward a glorious new world order controlled by "the people."

The Communists came to power in Russia in 1917, after a Bolshevik coup led by V.I. Lenin. Radical Islam achieved power in Iran in 1979, after a clerical coup led by the Ayatollah Khomeni. Both declared war on a world they believed to be in sin and in need of reform. Both made good on their respective declarations of war by establishing international networks of terrorists, subversives, and revolutionaries who were willing to disrupt and overthrow governments and undermine and desttroy entire societies.

The symbol of Communism is the color red, which stands for the human blood which the Communists believed would be inevitably shed to bring about the birth pangs of the "progressive" new man and the "progressive" new world order. They viewed this as "cracking a few eggs to make an omlet." The Communists, fulfilling their creed, killed over 100 million human beings in the twentieth century, according to the newly translated Black Book of Communism." Unlike much of the rest of the world, America was spared most of the ravages of Communist butchery. This was probably because the Communists, without firing a shot, were able to make amazing inroads into the highest echelons of our government, industry, labor, foundations, academia, and culture. With such a cadre of useful traitors, wielding such power and wealth, America would, as Lenin theorized, "hang itself by its own rope."

Not so with Islamic extremism. Radical Islam would have no agents such as Alger Hiss, Harry Dexter White, Pete Seeger, Angela Davis, and Jane Fonda. Radical Islam would fail develop swarms of American college and university students calling for a Taliban government in Washington, D.C., or for world peace under the rule of Mullahs. Nor would it turn out reams of intellectual pap or be rhapsodized in popular song. No, the Islamic extremists would have to show their true nature by killing more Americans in a couple of hours, on September 11, 2001, than either their Communist or Nazi predecessors would have ever dared.

The Communists believed that America would crumble over time. They plotted to bring this about quietly, as they wormed their way into positions of responsibility, worked their comrades and camp followers up the ratline, and incrementally sucked the independent patriotic spirit out of their loyal and trusting fellow citizens. Their tactics included such methods as setting race against race, rich against poor, and men against women. They planted seeds of hatred, intending to reap the harvest of what they expected to be the resulting unrest and confusion. In reaping such a harvest, they intended to tighten the screws on freedom and bring about the erosion of individual rights, the family, and belief in God. The Communists misread us and our commitment to liberty and property. In fact, the Communists misread human nature and its strvings to be free. That is why, even though they killed more than 100 million people, they eventually failed.

The Islamic extremist is the new "Communist"--the new "Communist" of the twenty-first century. With the same sense of righteousness and absolute faith, Islamic extremists kill anyone who stands in the way of their idea of progress. Like the Communists, the adherents of radical Islam view anything that helps their cause, including killing large numbers of innocent people, to be virtuous. They believe that the world will repose in peace under the true faith, Islam, and that those who don't accept this "peace" live in the Dar es Harb, or the perpetual world of war. Likewise, when the Communists spoke of peace, they meant World Communism, or World Socialism. Those who opposed this "peace" lived in the world of struggle.

Like the Communists, radical Islam misreads Americans. Islamic extremists misread our country, our spirit, and our love of liberty. While they may score a couple of victories, based on their own twisted definition of the term, they will also eventually fail. Their failure is inevitable.
