Does the Free World have the will to survive and triumph? Does it have the energy and virility to take the necessary steps to secure its future? Will two thousand years of slow but steady progress in the Judeo-Christian West toward human freedom be reduced to ashes? Regressive Nazism and Communism threatened modern civilization in their day by destroying freedom, prosperity, morality, and hundreds of millions of lives. As a result of advancements made in the technologies of war, the threat the West faces today is even more dangerous than that posed by the Nazis and Communists.

It should be recognized that the threat lies not primarily with the Islamists in foreign countries, but stems mainly from within our own nation and from within our own minds. As the author of the comic strip Pogo so famously wrote, "We Have Met the Enemy and He Is Us." We are threatened by our own cultural impotence and docility in the face of this external threat. We certainly possess the means, and the same natural and moral right of any sovereign nation, to defend the lives and property of our citizens, to wipe out this external threat overnight, if we chose to do so. The casus belli has already been established. By taking action, we would not only end the threat to ourselves, but we would also save Islam from the diabolical grip of totalitarianism. Is there any doubt that Germany and Japan are better off today than before World War II?

We have accepted the false idea that, by appeasing an enemy, we will be able to establish peace. This notion is now being manifested in the coddling of Saddam Hussein and the pressuring of Israel to surrender swaths of its tiny territory to Yasser Arafat. In 1938, the Liberal British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, pressured Czechoslovakia to surrender the Sudetenland to Adolf Hitler. Chamberlain would subsequently return to London and, while standing under a black umbrella in the pouring rain and waving the Munich Pact in the air, proclaim "peace in our time."

We've accepted the false idea it is wrong for our government to look for terrorists by developing a statistical profile that would include ethnicity and religious background. Such profiling is not racist, it is simply an observation of the fact that the vast majority of those who are presently conspiring to kill us, and who already have killed many of us, are Arab and Muslim. To insure the safety of all Americans, and to lessen the possibility of a military action occurring on our shores, we should expect law enforcement to scrutinize Arabs and Muslims, ask those here as guests to register with authorities and expel those that are here illegally

The American people need to realize that they cannot expect the government to provide for their personal safety and, therefore, Americans should begin to learn how to defend themselves, including learning how to use firearms. Schools should offer courses in self-defense. Pilots and transportation personnel should be armed and trained. Citizens, as they did in generations past, should develop war preparedness.

George Washington, in his first year as President of the United States, proclaimed a day of thanks and prayer for all the blessings that were enjoyed by the new nation. That day is celebrated today as Thanksgiving Day. We need to again give thanks to the Creator who has endowed us with certain inalienable rights. We need to re-dedicate our nation as one nation under God.
