WE ARE NOT AFRAID OF THE AMERICANS!
FOOLISH ASSERTIONS OF THE HOLLYWOOD LEFTISTS
By Paul Walfield

Boycotts don't work, America cannot beat anyone in a war, the supply lines are too thin, Iraqi resistance is stiff, the Arab street will rise up, and my favorite, "There are no American infidels in Baghdad. Never!"  The bottom line is that the Left wants everyone to believe them, or in the case of the former Iraqi Minister of Information Baghdad Bob, believe anything but what is actually happening.

Hollywood, and just about everyone else on the political and cultural Left, want all of us to believe that resistance is futile.  They first and foremost want to make sure that the American public understands that, to criticize a celebrity who is criticizing the President or America in general, is just plain un-American.  A celebrity or a politician or any of the Leftist elite are beyond reproach, and we all must appreciate the notion that, when they bash America, they are being patriotic and that ordinary Americans who try and use the First Amendment to express their disapproval of the Left are acting against the Constitution.

Of course, most Americans understand the faulty reasoning of the Left's argument that they have a constitutional right to speak out against the things that bother them, but ordinary Americans do not, at least when it come to criticizing the Left.

However, some people bought into that nonsense, and now the Left wants everyone to believe that boycotting or shunning celebrities or politicians with whom we disagree is not just un-American, it is also ineffective.

Janeane Garofalo says that being hated by America was her plan all along.  "Boycotters are welcome to keep giving me tons of publicity," adding, "There will be no apologies."  For Janeane, a celebrity, whose business is dependent on having people like her and want to pay money to see her, being hated and shunned is a good thing because people who didn't know who she was before also hate her.  But, the Left has a need to make everyone believe that it's time to move along and forget the hateful things said by the celebrities.  Besides, it is a waste of time anyway.

According to Mike Farrell (Remember Mike? He hated America when he played an antiwar Doctor on "Mash" way back when.), the folks who disliked the Leftwingers' badmouthing America in a time of war were just a tiny hateful segment of America.  "The Dixie Chicks are back on the air and their record is number one again,'' he said.  "Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon are not going to stop making movies for a long time. Janeane Garofalo has a [television] pilot going forward. These ugly-mouthed people like to think they are more powerful than they are."

For the Left, an over 40% drop in CD sales for the Dixie Chicks makes them "number one."  Susan Sarandon's television movie was at the bottom of the Nielsen ratings and Janeane Garofalo's pilot is not exactly expected to do well.  Yet, the Left wants us all to believe we have no power, while the Hollywood Leftists do.

To get people to understand how truthful, genuine, and sincere they are, the Dixie Chicks posed nude for the cover of Entertainment Weekly Magazine.  But, lest we think otherwise, "We don't want people to think that we are trying to be provocative. It's not about the nakedness," Dixie Chick Martie Maguire said.

If she hadn't said that, we just might have been deceived into believing that three women posing nude on the cover of a magazine was about the "nakedness."  Glad she was able to straighten that out for us.

Of course, there is also the question of how the folks over at Lipton Tea are going to ex- press their feelings about the Dixie Chicks.  Lipton Tea, according to an April 25, 2003, article on MSNBC, had planned "Lipton Presents Dixie Chicks' Top of the World Tour," and Lipton believed, "the Dixie Chicks, with their wholesome All-American image and strong southern fan base, seemed to be a natural. The south and southwest are the big- gest markets for iced tea."

The Dixie Chicks had sold out their concert tickets prior to all the controversy and "in- dustry analysts" want us all to believe that the Dixie Chicks concert sales are unaffected by all this talk of boycotts.

Lipton tea is also reported to have "shot an alternate spot," to possibly replace the Dixie Chicks as spokespeople for Lipton.  All in all, the boycott, the shunning of the celebrities that have displeased Americans, is being downplayed as much as American military victories in Iraq were.

In the case of the celebrities, it is just another attempt by the elitists to display their con- tempt for the wishes of the masses.  The elitists' survival, their very existence, is threat- ened whenever the public exerts its own independent actions.  This is especially so when the public expresses their defiance and will to diminish the power of the elitists.

The Left has no real power except when it comes to creating perceptions.  As for the Leftwing elitists in Hollywood, they tried to make us all believe that speaking out against them was the truly unpatriotic thing to do.  When that didn't work, they want us all to be- lieve that our actions of shunning are useless.  They want us to believe that we need to be "bigger than that."  We need to "move on."

Just like the suggestions regarding the actions of France and Germany prior to and dur- ing the war in Iraq, we are the ones to "make amends."  Forget all that transpired and include them all in the rebuilding that is to come.  Even socalled Conservatives like Bill O'Reilly are speaking out "personally" against any kind of boycott of celebrities.  Yes, it is the same Bill O'Reilly who wrote a best selling book decrying how the powerful protect each other.

The Hollywood Leftists are right about one thing.  We need to forget some things, like laying out even one thin dime when it comes to purchasing anything associated with the people who have so betrayed America and all of us when we all needed to band together.  We need to devote no time supporting the people who so blatantly refused to support America when she needed all our support.

We need to support each other in this endeavor and pay no attention to the silly asser- tions of the Hollywood Left.  We need to do the same as we did when Baghdad Bob said, "We are not afraid of the Americans."  We need to pay no attention when the Leftwing elitists say the American public has no power.  We need to pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
