PROTECTING OUR BORDERS DOWN MEXICO WAY
By April Shenandoah
Somebody turned a blind eye.
Tom Ridge, Director of the Office of Homeland Security, stated that the National Guard would now police the United States borders. The U.S. government will pay the troops so as to keep them under federal authority, releasing responsibility from the state governors. Jane Dee Hull, Governor of Arizona, expects the activation of Arizona's National Guard units to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border immediately. After two days of talks in Mexico City, Ridge revealed that the U.S. and Mexican officials are considering a "fast lane" across the border for pre-approved, low-risk users. (Associated Press)
Why have borders at all? We are telling Hispanics that they can get a drivers license in the State of California, even if they are illegal aliens, that they can go to school in the U.S.A., even if they are illegal aliens. And correct me if I'm wrong, but they have been recruited to vote by the Democrats, with citizenship papers pushed through at a rapid pace, in time for elections--a tactic which, during the Clinton Administration, was used in Orange County, California, to steal the election from Congressman Bob Dornan.
Hispanics are welcomed into this country with open arms. I love Hispanics, so don't get on your racist soapbox. My issue is border control. For what purpose are we patrolling our borders? We have no intention of keeping Hispanics out of the U.S.A., and in the next breath, they are illegal aliens. If we wanted to stop the influx of the millions of south-of-the-border immigrants and the drug traffic, plus terrorists, we could do it. Our government has the means and know how. Immigration and drugs generates money that lines of too many politicians to allow drastic change. There, I said it.
And now we have talk of Mexican dissent. Glenn Spencer, a spokesman for Voices of Citizens Together, a group that advocates stronger immigration laws, has implied that a Mexican border civil war could happen any day. U.S. President George W, Bush and Mexico's President Vicente Fox have not mentioned any unrest. However, they are scheduled to continue border security discussions during the United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development in Monterey.
According to Spencer, Hispanic militants in the United States are the foot soldiers of a "reconquista" movement to reclaim territory that the U.S.A. captured in the 1800s. An article by Ellen Sorkin in the Washington Times confirms that there is a Hispanic group at Berkeley, called Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MECha) calling for liberation from white people. In a flier, they blast "gringos" for invading their land. Spencer said, "I love Osama bin Laden" T-shirts were popular in Mexico after the September 11 attacks. (Washintonn Times)
Just what America needs--another enemy. At present, there are about 45 million border crossings a month. During time of war, even if the war has not been officially declared, our borders should be closed. We would be wise to remember that several of the terrorists came in through Mexico and perhaps Canada. Criminals and drug trafficers from other countries that find it difficult or risky to fly into the U.S.A. simply fly or boat into Mexico and come across the border.
It is common knowledge that there are several "terrorist cells" within our borders right now, just waiting for the "go" signal to attack. If we weren't so afraid of being accused of racial and ethnic profiling, they could be identified in a matter of weeks. The U.S. government has not shown that it is serious in halting anti-American activity or preventing more terrorists from coming across our borders. It is time to stop pussyfooting around. Protecting our borders is essential. If we don't, we are protecting those who are hell-bent on destroying America. And they want to kill all of us in the process of destroying our country.
