A few weeks ago, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (Democrat--South Dakota) also undercut America. How? By engineering the defeat of President George W. Bush's plan to expand oil drilling in Alaska, thus ensuring that America will remain energy dependent on oil rich Arab nations that promote terrorism.
For that and more, Mr. Daschle deserves to lose his 51-49 Senate majority, and his Senate seat itself.
I am Tom Phillips, Founder and Chairman of the National Conservative Campaign Fund (NCCF). In a moment, I'll explain how, with your help, NCCF can put Conservative Republicans in control of the U.S. Senate in the coming November congressional elections, and, at the same time, strengthen the current Republican majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The fact is, by defeating President Bush's drilling plan, the Liberal Democratic Majority Leader in the Senate has put America in far greater danger than "Johnny Taliban" ever could!
Unfortunately, that's not the only way Tom Daschle and his fellow Liberals are putting Americans at risk. Here are some of the other ways:
All this is just the tip of the iceberg. Since taking over as Majority Leader, after ex-Republican Senator James Jeffords shamlesssly betrayed the party that got him elected to the Senate and defected to the Democrats, Tom Daschle has blocked every major initiative supported by the White House and the House Republican majority. He and his fellow Liberal Democrats simply cannot be trusted to put America's vital interests ahead of their own!
Clearly, this isn't a time for inaction. We must do whatever it takes to prevent Liberals from exercising veto power over policies affecting the security and survival of our nation.
And if we succeed? Consider just the immediate consequences if Republicans regain their Senate majority and strengthen their majority in the House of Representatives. Instantly, you would see:
Scores of President Bush's judicial nominees would be seated. As many as 50 could be confirmed within weeks of the elections!
The Bush tax cuts would be made permanent, and possibly deepened!
The President's proposed increases in defense spending, which under former President Bill Clinton fell to the lowest percentage of GDP since before Pearl Harbor, would be quickly approved.
The Brownback-Landrieu bill to ban human cloning for medical experi- ments would come before the Senate. The bill, which President Bush has promised to sign, already passed the House by more than 100 votes, but Daschle blocked it in the Senate.
Another bill passed by the House but blocked by Daschle would come before the Senate, this one forbidding strangers from transporting your daughter across state lines for abortions without your know- ledge and consent.
U.S. Supreme Court vacancies will be filled by "strict construc- tionists" who respect the original intent of the U.S. Constitution's framers, not by Liberal activists who follow political ideology and legislate from the bench.
The importance of that last point cannot be exaggerated. Right now, three Supreme Court justices are reportedly considering retirement, including Chief Justice William H. Renquist. If Democrats retain their Senate majority, and ultra Liberal Senator Patrick Leahy remains head of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Conservative nominees to fill those Supreme Court vacancies will be blocked just like Charles Pickering was last Fall!
The stakes, then, couldn't possibly be any higher. That is why NCCF is putting everything it has into helping Conservative Republicans to win back the Senate and strengthen their hold on the House of Representatives.
But we can't make it happen without you. We need your financial support and assistance.
Let me explain how the NCCF will use your dollars to impact on the upcoming elections as no other organization can:
Second, NCCF will identify and come to the aid of Conservative chal- lengers and incumbents who have been targeted for defeat by the Big Labor money machines, Hollywood Leftists, feminists, environmental- ists, and other Liberal Leftist groups. We'll get money to those Conservatives as early as possible, when the money is needed the most.
Third, NCCF will target vulnerable Liberals for defeat. Thanks again to our close relationship with so many Conservative pollsters, activ- ists and media groups, NCCF will gain early knowledge of which Liber- als are in trouble. Then we'll step in to help the Conservative can- didate to turn up the heat.
Fourth, NCCF will get more money into the hands of candidates them- selves, because we keep our operating expenses far lower than other organizations. NCCF doesn't have fancy offices or high-salaried staffers. In fact, we rely almost exclusively on volunteer support to run our organization.
Can we do it? Our brief but impressive track record says we can.
Just after our founding in 1999, the NCCF contributed to 54 Conservative candidates in the 2000 elections. Twenty-nine of those Conservatives went on to victory, and I'm glad to report that support from the NCCF helped make the difference, whether it was with "early money" or a late-season financial boost.
But make no mistake. This November's elections will be even tougher. The radical Left is so mobilized that money has been pouring into the coffers of Liberal candidates, Leftwing Political Action Committees (PACs), and the Democratic Party itself--so much, in fact, that they expect to break the fundraising record they set during the 2000 elections.
That's why it's so important for us--and for you--to take action today. We can make the critical difference in the upcoming elections if you help us raise the $1 million financial goal we've set.
We must be able to provide urgently needed early support in key races across the country. Our plan is to give the maximum contribution allowed by federal law to candidates who not only can win, but also will stick to their Conservative principles once in office.
With your early and generous financial support, we will have the funds to provide this badly needed early support. If it seems like November, 2002, is a long time off, I can assure you it's not. Democratic fundratsing and strategizing for the Fall elections is well under way. Promising Conservative challengers need money now, as do Republican incumbents facing tough challengers of their own.
Control of the Senate now hinges on the outcome of only a few elections. This is precisely why the NCCF was created! Our experience in identifying and impacting on the outcomes of the closest, most important races can help tilt the balance of power in Washington, D.C., decisively to Republicans. Your support and assistance is urgently needed and will be greatly appreciated!
